Shin-maru

At first, many vassals’ mansions were constructed at Shin-maru so that this enclosure could be useful for defense.
But, as more province government offices were built here and the lord had more vassals, their mansions had to move out of the castle because of the space shortage.
After that, the government founded craft factories at Shin-maru.
A lot of craftsmen were hired to produce and repair armors, swords, bows and arrows, and were paid salaries by the government.
However, these craft factories were burned down in a big fire in 1759, and never rebuilt here.
Later they rebuilt temporary sheds around Dougata, where the prefectural office is now located, and used them as craft factories.
